I was recommended to Tahoma vet by 2 separate friends that had a less than desirable care routine/experience at another clinic we all were using in a neighboring town. I have 2 boxers that are aging but have been in great health. Aside from annual shots they haven't required frequent routine care. Now that they are aging and one with a suspected torn ccl- they recently needed vet care. I initially liked the idea of this vet clunic because they are a large animal clinic that made me feel like there would be a good network of knowledge and experience at a place like this. We were paired up with Dr Suzannah Strauss. I want to thank Dr Strauss for your knowledge and care for my girls. She helped me get 1 diagnosed with a ccl tear and is supportive with my decision to try medicines and a conservative management approach due to newly diagnoses heart murmur etc. I also very much appreciate her taking the time to recommend supplements and otc products (such as joint supplements, products to help with itching and dental care at home) that I can easily find online. Shortly after our check up, the other pup came down with what seemed like an upper respitory infection. Dr Strauss promptly called me back and got her set up with meds to help combat her cold. It was a low stress experience and shes all better now. I have anxiety for some professions such as vets, mechanics and car salesmen etc. Thank you Dr Strauss for your course of care, experience and recommendations. When I left my appt. I felt empowered and was helped with the concerns I had for my girls. I also had some additional tools to help my girls as they age.

Very busy Veterinary Practice. I had to wait a while to check in and out. I appreciated the call from the veterinarian as I was informed of lab results and the outcome of the procedures. I did not feel as if the vet needed to hurry thru the phone call to move on. I was pleased that a tech came out and discussed again the procedure, expectations in the next couple of days, medications, and asked if I had any questions. I was happy that all that was done before bringing out my pets. I felt that my dog was cared for as she is tiny and underwent a surgical procedure. I had mentioned to the tech that the previous year, my dog had an allergic reaction following the same procedure the next day. He did go back and discussed it with the doctor. I liked the follow-up, though I was disappointed that there were apparently no notes in her chart that I had reported it last year. I was also a little annoyed that my female dog was referred to by the vet as a male, though I had corrected him previously in an email. A quick look at my account would have identified her gender for the doctor prior to talking with me. Overall, I am satisfied with Tahoma Veterinary Hospital.

I recently took my Terrior and Weiner dog mix into the Tahoma Vetranarian Clinic to get vaccines at 3 months old. She was born with a hernia and the Vet said I should have it fixed when I have her spayed. When she turned 6 months old I called them for a quote. They emailed me one and I accepted it. I called them and made an appt. They called me the day before and said to have her there at 8:15am and no food after 8pm the night before and no water after midnight. I took her in the next morning and they told me how much I should expect to pay when I pick her up. I told them that it was way more than they had quoted me. So I had to go back home and get the quote they gave me and take it back to the clinic. By 1pm I was starting to get worried because I had not heard from them. I waited untill 3:30pm and called them because I was very concerned . The receptionist went to check on her and said they were preparing her to take her to surgery at that moment. I was not happy at all with this. She said it was because they were busy with emergencies all day. Could there really be 8 hours of emergencies in one town? Another 2 hours went by and by now I'm freaking out, my poor little dog had no water or food since the day before and was locked up in a kennel all day. Why didn't they just have me bring her in later if they weren't going to do her surgery untill last appt of the day. I called at 5:30 and asked if she was ready and they told me to go ahead and come to get her.. Finally got a call at5:45 telling me to pick her up at 6pm when they close. I said I was already on my way. When I got there I watched the vet come out and talk to 2 other dog owners and they told me he would be out to talk to me, but he never did. They brought me my puppy and I almost cried! They handed me her limp little body obviously she was still knocked out from the surgery. When I got home and looked at the surgery area it looked like a mess! She had sticky stuff all over her feet and legs. They didn't even have time to clean her up. On the quote they gave me there was a lower end price and a higher end price. I was charged the higher end even though on the paperwork it said that the surgery went without any issues. I wouldn't recommend this Vet clinic to any one unless you have a large animal, as they cater to the larger animals. That's why my little dog went last. The larger the animal the larger the bill. They are only in it for the money, not because they care about animals. It says right on their quote... Emergencies for little animals til 10pm and large animals 24/7. So if your little animal has an emergency after 10pm it will die.

My niece's dog needed emergency surgery four days after giving birth. Tahoma vet hospital made this surgery possible!!! They were way more affordable than any of the other vet offices we called. Their staff was great, sympathetic, kind & helpful. We really appreciate this vet being reasonable! Being a vet for the right reasons, Wanting to help animals over making tons of money. It was Overall a great experience for our family. (As great as this kind of thing can be) they literally saved Kenai's life in two ways. Giving her the emergency surgery she needed & making the surgery affordable enough that it was possible to save her.

Dr. Long and the whole team is absolutely phenomenal and took the best care of our sweet goat, Edna, when we brought her in for an emergency. Unfortunately, Edna didn’t make it but we are so appreciative of the compassion, patience, and persistence they demonstrated throughout the process. We look forward to having them take care of our other goats and sheep (under better circumstances), as we know they will be in the best of hands.

Always friendly staff, good pet services by the doctor as well. Lots of parking. My livestock guardian dog was a little nervous but the technicians in the back were able to treat him for his hot spot and I am happy he wasn't muzzled or sedated to get him to be cared for.

I try not to go out of my way to write negative reviews but this is 3.5 years in the making. We had been taking our German shepherd to Tahoma since we got him at 8 weeks because of the wonderful things we've heard about this vet even though it can take 30-40 minutes to drive out. He has terrible skin issues and we've been looking for answers his whole life. Long story short, there is no order whatsoever in the administration/communications department. Every, single, time we needed a prescription refill which is quite often they drop the ball and I have to call back several times. They never called back when I asked for information. We never got reminders for vaccinations or any kind of care. We never had the same vet twice at any visit, which made getting to the bottom of his skin issues impossible. The final straw was paying $400 for an allergy test. I had to call several times to get the results. They INSISTED it was emailed to me and when I asked which email they sent it to the receptionist realized they didn't even have an email on file for us. Once we got that established, I was emailing the vet to find out the next steps towards helping with allergies. They said we qualified for a free retest since his allergy panel came back inconclusive. Instead of just calling us, it would take multiple days to get a response to each question and they eventually stopped responding altogether without scheduling our retest. After this I switched to Banfield in Lakewood and within the first visit they prescribed Cytopoint and our dog's skin has never been better. We get the same vet every time and she calls us personally to go over any questions we have. I understand things get incredibly busy and I tried to make it work for years but communication was completely nonexistent at Tahoma.

I switched over to Tahoma Vets because I need a veterinarian office that genuinely cared about my pets and not just about the $$$ they have been absolutely patient with my obsessive helicopter dog mom-ness and my need to ensure that my baby boy is taken care of with the highest degree of care possible. They have been open to learning new things and then taking that and diving Into rabbit holes of knowledge! And for me a vet that admits they don’t know everything but is willing to do the research is all one could ask for! Dr Strauß has been phenomenal and so on point with holistic approach to healing- endless fountain of knowledge and a desire to learn more- one of the best vets I’ve ever met and I’ve met a lot! Dr. Long is a compassionate and loving vet who gets down to your pups level and like Dr Strauß give care with true compassion. They seek ways to make vet care affordable and work with the humans to educate and to support! The support staff are like family- friendly compassionate and on point! Truly could not ask for a better team of people to take care of my furfamily. If you’re lucky enough to become one of their patients trust you are in some of the best hands possible!
